Myths Debunked: Long Tan Military History Revealed

On 20 August 2025, we became aware that a malicious actor had been impersonating Kevin online. This person created several blog posts dated 2 July — even though our website did not exist until 15 July, including the one with the above title.

These three posts contain a number of serious factual errors. We completely understand why they have caused anger and disappointment. But we want to be absolutely clear: these posts were not written by Kevin, they are not part of his research, and none of these errors appear in the book.

Kevin is deeply saddened that someone would attempt to undermine a project intended to honour the men of Long Tan — men who showed extraordinary courage and sacrifice.

This book was written to tell the true stories of soldiers like Private Ernie Grant, who was fatally wounded while helping his mate, John Robbins of 6 Section, who was himself injured and struggling to withdraw under fire. And like 12 Platoon medic Private Graham Davis, who risked his life — and was wounded — while ensuring a fellow soldier received treatment in the middle of battle.

These are the real stories of the Battle of Long Tan. They deserve to be told truthfully, and remembered with dignity.
